Driton Selmani’s installation Eye to Eye represents a giant eye-shaped amulet that serves as a tool to protect mankind, animals, and the surrounding landscape from the evil eye. Selmani magnified this familiar pop icon to become an instrument that protects the city of Amsterdam, its inhabitants, and its visitors not just from the evil eye, but from all forces of darkness. At the same time, Eye to Eye stands as a landmark that watches over us and speaks eye to eye with our deepest selves.
